Bates divers excel at Wellesley/Conn. College tri-meet

WELLESLEY, Mass. — Bates divers stood out for the Bates swimming and diving teams in a tri-meet at Wellesley College on Saturday against Wellesley and Connecticut College. The Bobcats fell victim to tough matchups in the team scores, as the men were outscored 176-75 by the Camels, while the women lost 189-96 to the Camels and 206-91 to the hosts.
Bates junior Dan Perry (Exeter, N.H.) won the 1-meter diving event with 222.20 points, defeating Conn College’s Brian McVeety (149.40). Perry went unopposed in the 3-meter event and scored 257.65 points.
Bates two-time All-American sophomore Kelsey Lamdin (Brunswick, Maine) took first place in the 1-meter diving, outscoring Wellesley’s Stephanie White by a 287.20-237.30 margin, with first-year teammate Annaliese Rudis (North Andover, Mass.) close behind White with 229.20 points. Lamdin’s score broke both the Bates record and the Wellesley pool record.
Lamdin also claimed first place in the 3-meter diving with 241.85 points, beating out Wellesley’s Kate Sprout Sorenson (235.90).
The Bates women’s team has the NESCAC Championship up next on Feb. 16 at Williams College. The Bates men will be at their NESCAC Championship the following Saturday, Feb. 23, at Bowdoin.
