Rob Stockwell ’07 earned D3Hoops.com First Team All-Northeast Region honors for the second straight year.

LEWISTON, Maine — Bates College senior forward Rob Stockwell was named First Team All-Northeast Region for the 2006-07 season by D3Hoops.com, his second straight season with that honor.

The 6-foot-5 Stockwell (Temple, N.H.) was accompanied on the First Team by guards Andrew Olson of Amherst and Ryan Cain of WPI, Salem State forward Eric Downie and Trinity center Russ Martin. Downie was named regional Player of the Year, while Amherst’s David Hixon took Coach of the Year honors.

Stockwell led Bates (18-7) in scoring and rebounding for the third straight season in 2006-07, putting up averages of 15.9 points and 9.0 rebounds to rank fourth and first, respectively, in those categories in the NESCAC. He finished his career as Bates’ fourth all-time leading scorer with 1,512 points to go with a massive total of 868 career rebounds. Stockwell was tied for sixth in the conference in steals, with 1.52 per game. He recorded nine double-doubles for Bates and led the team in both scoring and rebounding seven times. A talented three-point shooter as well as a banger, Stockwell hit 31 of 95 attempts from behind the arc (.326).

It’s the second postseason honor for Stockwell, who was named First Team All-NESCAC on Feb. 28 along with fellow senior co-captain Zak Ray (Bangor, Maine).

Players were nominated for these awards by the sports information directors at the various schools. There were 638 players nominated nationwide. The ballot was then made available to SIDs, who voted for 10 players in their region. SIDs voted for six frontcourt players and four backcourt players, to insure balance.
