LEWISTON, Maine — Bates sophomore Izzy Alexander made the field for this week’s NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 400-meter hurdles, as the field was announced today, joining senior Kathryn Moore in representing Bates at nationals.
Alexander (Harvard, Mass.) had qualified provisionally for NCAAs with her performance Friday at the ECAC Division III Championships in Oneonta, N.Y. Alexander’s time of 1:03.14 broke her own Bates record by .80 seconds.
Moore (Pelham, N.H.) had already met the automatic qualifying standard to compete at nationals in the 3,000-meter steeplechase for the third straight year. Moore also broke her own Bates record in the event recently, winning the all-divisions Open New England title two weeks ago at Dartmouth with a time of 10:33.20.
The NCAA championship meet begins Thursday at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Alexander will compete in the preliminary heat on Thursday, with the finals scheduled for Saturday. Moore will compete on Friday.
