BALTIMORE — Bates College senior Matt Erisman scored two goals on two shots and assisted on another on Friday in the USILA Division III North-South All-Star Classic.
Erisman (Nantucket, Mass.), believed to be the first Bobcat to play in the annual game, was teamed with All-American attackmen Derek Cherney of Amherst and Adam Cherry of Western New England College for the second and fourth quarters of the game. North coach Rob Randall of Nazareth College used a similarly potent attacking trio for the first and third quarters of Ryan Hotaling (Nazareth), Eric Pritchard (RIT) and Scott Farress (RIT).
Bates head coach Peter Lasagna, who was in attendance at the game, reported that Erisman’s unit helped stake the North team to a 9-5 in the second quarter. The South rallied, and with a buzzer-beating goal closed the gap to 9-8 at the half.
Erisman, a team co-captain for Bates, assisted Cherry on a game-tying goal late in the fourth quarter, but the South prevailed by one, 12-11.
Erisman and senior teammate Amadi Cisse (Hanover, N.H.) have both been selected to play in the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association’s annual East-West All-Star Game, which will be held June 1, 7 p.m. at Harvard University.
