NEW ORLEANS — Three members of the Bates College women’s track and field team made the list of the 2007 Division III Women’s All-Academic team, announced by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, one must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and obtain an NCAA qualifying mark in their respective event during the outdoor season.

Earning the honor from Bates were Izzy Alexander ’09 (Harvard, Mass.), Jennifer Caban ’07 (Bedford, Mass.) and Kathryn Moore ’07 (Pelham, N.H.). In total, 183 student athletes from 61 colleges made the list.

Alexander qualified for nationals in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:02.87 and finished ninth in the event, one spot away from All-America standing. Moore finished sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:42.45, earning her fourth All-America award. Caban was a provisional qualifier in the 800 meters.

Both Caban and Moore were named to the Bates College Scholar-Athlete Society in May, and both also made the 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District women’s track & field/cross country team in June.
