Women’s lacrosse takes team, individual academic awards

LEWISTON, Maine — The Bates College women’s lacrosse team earned team and individual academic honors from the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Association, the IWLCA announced Monday.

With an average grade point average of 3.32, the Bobcats were one of 41 teams to earn mention as a Division III Honor Squad.

Among the 187 women to earn individual academic distinction were two Bobcats: midfielder and co-captain Hannah Meyer ’07 (Concord, N.H.), an environmental studies major, and goalkeeper Katie Nickerson ’08 (Windham, N.H.), who majors in both political science and sociology.

Nickerson made 12 starts and played in 14 games for Bates, collecting 9.00 saves per game, the sixth highest average in the NESCAC. Meyer played in 14 games for Bates and ranked fourth on the team in ground balls (22).
