Golf team finishes strong weekend at Colby Classic

WATERVILLE, Maine — The Bates College golf team finished third and close to the top of the standings at the Colby Classic Sunday at Waterville Country Club.

Bates shot a modified score of 231, just a stroke behind Colby (230) and first-place Husson (225), and well ahead of Thomas (241), Maine Maritime (258) and UMaine-Presque Isle (288).

Bates sophomore Kurt Schuler (Windham, N.H.) and junior Mark DelGiudice (Bedford, N.H.) teamed up for a modified score of 75, as did a pair of first-years, Mike Kelen (Baltimore, Md.) and John Canney (North Clarendon, Vt.). Senior Jake Cox (Sammamish, Wash.) and junior Jeremy Rogalski (West Springfield, Mass.) combined for an 81.

The Bobcats will hit the road this weekend for the NESCAC Tournament in Clinton, N.Y., on Sept. 29.
