Rob Friedlander ’10
Bates sophomore forwardRob Friedlander(Hopkinton, N.H.) hadn’t scored this season until 15 minutes remained of the 2007 men’s soccer season. That’s when first-year Tyler Dewdney’sshot was deflected by Colby goaltender Doug Sibor. The quick-footed Friedlander was there to chest the ball in from inside the penalty box, giving Bates a 3-2 lead and erasing a 2-1 deficit from just two minutes beforehand (Patrick Graterhad evened the game at 2-2 in the 75th minute.)The Bobcats held on for the remaining 14 minutes for their first NESCAC victory in a tough season that, thanks to Friedlander’s goal, suddenly became more palatable. |
