HADLEY, Mass. — Bates College senior forward Brent Morin was named to the 2007 NESCAC Men’s Soccer All-Conference Second Team, announced on Thursday by the New England Small College Athletic Conference.
It is the second time Morin (Hanover, N.H.) has earned this recognition; he was also voted Second Team All-NESCAC in 2005.
Morin, a team co-captain, played almost every minute of every game for the Bobcats, who finished 5-8-1 overall with a 1-7-1 mark in NESCAC play. “He worked very hard as a target player to hold the ball and bring players into the attack,” said head coach George Purgavie. “His positive nature and encouragement as a captain kept team morale up in a very tough season.”
Morin finished the season with two goals and a team-high three assists. In his Bates career, Morin scored 23 goals with 14 assists. In his highest-scoring season, 2005, he led the NESCAC with 27 points (11 goals, 5 assists).
Also a lacrosse standout as a midfielder, Morin has twice been voted All-NESCAC in that sport.
