| Abby Childs ’09 has now earned all-conference and all-region recognition for her stellar 2007 season. |
LEWISTON, Maine — Bates College’s Abby Childs was named to the New England West Region Division III Second Team by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, the NFHCA announced on Monday.
It is the second postseason award for Childs (Philadelphia, Pa.), who was named Second Team All-NESCAC last week.
The junior forward scored eight goals with two assists for a team-high 18 points, the highest output for a Bobcat since Sara Overmyer ’05 had the same totals in 2003. Seven of her goals were scored in NESCAC contests for the Bobcats, who finished 5-8-1 overall and 2-7 in NESCAC play. She tied for ninth in the NESCAC in goals per game (0.57) and 11th in points per game (1.29).
Childs became the first Bobcat to be named NESCAC Player of the Week on Sept. 17, 2007, after scoring three goals in Bates’ biggest victory of the season, a 5-4 decision against Amherst.
