Colby visits for final home swim meet of the season

LEWISTON, Maine — Colby College came away with the most points on both the men’s and women’s sides (200-78 and 174-120, respectively) in a dual swimming and diving meet on Saturday at Tarbell Pool, but the host Bobcats posted a high number of strong individual performances to take away from the meet.

Bates sophomore Katelyn Drake (Hudson, Ohio) won the 200-yard backstroke in a blistering 2:11.37. Senior co-captain Annie Barton (Holladay, Utah) took first in the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.77)

Bates first-year Charlotte Green (New Canaan, Conn.) took first place in the 50-yard freestyle race, in a time of 25.52 seconds.

The Bates men’s team finished up a productive meet with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay, with a time of 1:32.21 notched by the quartet of junior Chris Berry (Augusta, Maine), junior Nate Cooper (Chestertown, Md.), first-year Patrick Carroll (North Andover, Mass.) and first-year Peem Chatikavanij (Bangkok, Thailand).

Bates divers competed unopposed by Colby, with impressive scores. Junior Kelsey Lamdin (Brunswick, Maine) scored 277.80 points at 1 meter, outscoring sophomore Annaliese Rudis (257.75) and senior co-captain Tasha Rosener (230.65). The four-time All-American scored 283.15 points in the 3-meter, while Rudis (252.05) edged Rosener (251.55) for second.

Senior co-captain Dan Perry (Exeter, N.H.) scored 302.55 points at 3 meters and 282.70 at 1 meter. Senior Mike Detweiler (Salem, Va.) was second at 3 meters, while Carroll was second at 1 meter.

Bates’ next competition is a tri-meet with Tufts University at Wheaton College.
