Holland leads women’s alpine team in GS at Dartmouth
HANOVER, N.H. — The first day of the Dartmouth Winter Carnival saw the Bates College ski teams in seventh place out of 12 teams, as both the men’s and women’s alpine teams placed seventh in Friday’s giant slaloms.
First-year Micaela Holland (Belmont, Mass.) had the best day for Bates alpine, placing 21st out of 58 competitors with a two-run combined time of 2:02.54. Junior Emily Sampson (Plymouth, N.H.) came in 28th for Bates.
Senior Dan Loman (Killington, Vt.) led the men’s alpine unit in the GS by finishing 27th out of 60 skiers, with a combined time of 1:57.34, while first-year Ross Brockman (Sudbury, Mass.), first-year Ben Manter (Vassalboro, Maine) and senior Leo Menard (Portland, Maine) occupied spots 33 through 35, respectively.
The carnival finishes up on Saturday with the slaloms at Dartmouth Skiway.
