ATLANTA — Bates College senior Meg Coffin (Westford, Mass.) has been named to the 2007-08 ECAC Division III New England Women’s Basketball All-Stars First Team, the Eastern College Athletic Conference announced Tuesday. Coffin joined Khalilah Ummah of Tufts, Colleen Feeney of Bridgewater State, Jaime Capra of Brandeis and Stacey Kent of Southern Maine on the First Team.
It is the fifth postseason honor this year for Coffin. Last month she became a two-time All-America honoree in both basketball and soccer when she was named an Honorable Mention member of the 2008 State Farm Coaches’ NCAA Division III All-America Team, thereby becoming the first Bates woman to earn All-America honors in basketball in more than one season.
Earlier last month the 6-foot-2 center was named NESCAC First Team All-Conference, First Team All-State by the Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association, and All-Northeast Region Second Team by D3hoops.com.
After missing the 2006-07 season due to injury, Coffin returned this winter for her final year with the Bobcats and once again ranked among the conference leaders in multiple statistical categories. The 2006 NESCAC Player of the Year, she averaged a team-high 15.3 points (5th in NESCAC), 9.4 rebounds (4th) and 1.58 blocks (3rd) per game while shooting at a 56.4 percent clip (2nd) in 19 games, collecting nine double-doubles in the process. Coffin closed the book on her career fourth all-time at Bates in scoring and rebounding with 1,252 points and 789 boards.
