OSHKOSH, Wis. — On the Bates women’s team, sophomore Vantiel Elizabeth Duncan (Topsham, Maine) competed in the hammer throw and registered a top throw of 152-06, seventh best in her preliminary flight but missing the cut to compete in the finals.

Competing in her first NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships, Duncan finished 15th out of 18 competitors. Still left for Duncan is what has been her best event this spring, the shot put, which starts Saturday at 12 p.m. Central time.

Duncan’s teammate, junior captain Izzy Alexander (Harvard, Mass.), runs in the finals of the 400-meter hurdles Saturday at 3:15 p.m. Central

Alexander’s preliminary heat time of 61.94 seconds on Thursday broke her own Bates record of 62.46 seconds in the event, set earlier this season, and was the seventh best time in the preliminary heats.

Alexander (Harvard, Mass.), a two-time All-America, will run in Lane 2 in Saturday’s final.
