Golf team stands in third place at state championships
VASSALBORO, Maine — The Bates College golf team is in third place out of 12 teams entering the second and final day of the Maine Intercollegiate Golf Championship at Natanis Golf Course.
Bates sophomore Mike Kelen (Baltimore, Md.) led the Bobcats with a round of 78. Senior captain Jeremy Rogalski (West Springfield, Mass.) shot an 80, followed by first-year Lee Smith (Lexington, Mass.) with an 84 and sophomore John Canney (North Clarendon, Vt.) rounded out the team’s top four with an 86.
The tournament concludes with another 18 holes tomorrow, as Bates seeks to improve upon its fourth-place finish of a year ago.
