Golf team places third at Maine Intercollegiate Championship

VASSALBORO, Maine — Bates sophomore Mike Kelen and first-year Lee Smith both earned all-state honors as the Bobcats finished third out of 12 teams at the two-day Maine Intercollegiate Golf Championship at Natanis Golf Club.
Kelen (Baltimore, Md.) shot a 78 for the second straight day to lead the Bobcats for the second straight day, while Smith (Lexington, Mass.) carded a 79 for a two-day score of 163 to also finish among the top 10 and earn all-state recognition. Sophomore John Canney (North Clarendon, Vt.) shot an 89 and senior captain Jeremy Rogalski (West Springfield, Mass.) rounded out the Bobcats’ four scorers.
Bates plays at the Colby Classic tomorrow at Waterville Country Club.
