Field hockey edged at No. 12 Trinity College
HARTFORD, Conn. — Christy Bradley scored twice and assisted on a third goal to lead the Trinity College field hockey team to a 3-1 win against visiting Bates in NESCAC action Saturday afternoon on Robin L. Sheppard Field.
Trinity, ranked No. 12 in the nation, improves to 9-1 overall and 5-1 in the NESCAC, while the Bobcats drop to 4-6 overall and 1-5 in the league with their first loss in three games.
Bradley scored her first goal 53 seconds into the contest and provided an assist on a goal by Robyn Williams late in the first half to give the Bantams a 2-0 lead at the break.
Bates junior midfielder Morgan Maciewicz (Marblehead, Mass.) pulled the visitors within one with an unassisted goal late in the second half. But Bradley put the game away with an unassisted tally with 3:23 remaining on the clock. Trinity goalie Gina DiNallo made five saves and Bobcat sophomore goalie Katie McEnroe (Manchester, Mass.) had 14 stops.
Bates will play host to Southern Maine on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m., followed by a NESCAC contest at Middlebury next Saturday at 11 a.m.
