BRISTOL, R.I. — The Bates College men’s cross country team finished tied for 18th place out of 48 teams Saturday at the ECAC Division III Cross Country Championships, with first-year Peter Corcoran leading the way.
Corcoran (Stillwater, Minn.) covered the 8-kilometer course at Colt State Park in 28:02, good for 53rd place overall out of 323 runners. Corcoran’s performance comes after he missed Bates’ past two meets due to injury, and it earned him a spot in the Bates lineup for next weekend’s New England Division III Championships.
Following Corcoran for Bates were sophomore Joe Musso (Wallingford, Conn.) 84th in 28:36, first-year Sam Wood (Waterville, Maine) 117th in 29:07, sophomore Kevin McDonald (Stewart Manor, N.Y.) 147th in 29:35 and sophomore Peter Gurney (Arlington, Va.) 165th in 29:54, Ben Taska (Lowell, Vt.) in 192nd at 30:27 and Tristan Black-Ingersoll (Concord, N.H.) in 239th at 31:43.
Bates tied with Eastern Connecticut State with 553 points, just four behind 17th-place Springfield.
