Bates’ Thompson presents baseball camp Jan. 17-18
Coach Edwin Thompson
Bates College first year head baseball coach Edwin Thompson presents a two-day baseball camp to be held January 17th and 18th.
The camp will have two sessions. Session 1 runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for pitching and defensive work on both Saturday and Sunday. Then Session 2 runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for hitting, drills, contests, and a simulated game. Players can go to one or both sessions each day. The camp is for ages 8 to 18, and players will be separated into training groups by age and skill level and will then rotate through fundamental skill stations, and have different contests and prizes. Participants must bring their own lunch if staying for the whole day.
Thompson, a former Division I and professional baseball player, is entering his fifth year as a college coach and has coached four players who have been drafted by Major League Baseball teams, including the 2008 top overall draft pick.
The camp will be run by Thompson and his coaching staff, as well as his current players. The camp will be held at the Gray Cage on the campus of Bates College, which features 27,000 square feet and has a full infield, as well as two full-size batting cages and a state of the art pitching machine.
The cost will be $30 per session or $50 for the whole weekend; checks can be made out to Bates Baseball.
