Bates hosts women’s hoops, swimming and track meets this weekend
LEWISTON, Maine — Bates College Athletics has a busy weekend in store, in the first full weekend of action since students returned from winter break.
The Bates basketball teams will open their conference schedules Friday night and Saturday against Middlebury and Williams, respectively. The Bates women host the visiting Panthers at Alumni Gym at 7 p.m. on Friday, then host the Williams Ephs on Saturday at 3 p.m. (the men’s team plays away at the same times). As with all home basketball games this season, both games will be webcast live at BatesCast.com, with Ryan Horvath ’10 and Alex Macrokanis ’10 providing the call.
On Saturday, the Bates swimming and diving team hosts its first home meet of the season as Bowdoin visits Tarbell Pool starting at 1 p.m. Also in Merrill Indoor Gymnasium, the Bates indoor track and field teams get their season started with a tri-meet against Colby and MIT. The meet will be the first to take place on Merrill’s newly resurfaced indoor track and field facilities.
Away from Lewiston, the Bates men’s and women’s squash teams travel to Connecticut for matches at Wesleyan University, Yale University and Trinity College.
