Men’s track and field notches eight wins at USM Invitational

GORHAM, Maine — The Bates College men’s indoor track and field team recorded eight first-place finishes on Saturday at the USM Invitational, en route to a second-place team finish out of six squads.
The Bobcats scored 233 points, second to host Southern Maine (267) and well ahead of Emmanuel (47), Gordon (42), Clark (17) and St. Joseph’s (10).
Winning events for the Bobcats were:
- sophomore Ryan Quinn (Watertown, Mass.) in the 400 (51.89);
- sophomore Tom Esponnette (Auburn, Maine) in the mile (4:21.15);
- senior Mike Watson (Mansfield, Mass.) in the 800 (2:01.57);
- sophomore Devin Dilts (Roscoe, Ill.) in the 3,000 (9:01.99);
- first-year Sean Colligan (Goffstown, N.H.) in the 5,000 (16:02.00);
- senior Jerome Bennett (Chicago, Ill.) in the pole vault (13-09.00);
- first-year Candido Bousquet (Colombo, Sri Lanka) in the shot put (41-02.25);
- and senior Mark Liu (Lexington, Mass.) in the weight throw (48-08.00).
Bates will next host the State of Maine Championships on Feb. 7 at 6 p.m.
