Drake named NESCAC Swimming & Diving Performer of the Week

HADLEY, Mass. — Bates junior co-captain Katelyn Drake (Hudson, Ohio) captured NESCAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week honors on Monday from the New England Small College Athletic Conference.
It is the first such honor for Drake, a one-time All-American. In Saturday’s tri-meet against Connecticut College and Wellesley College, the Bobcat standout posted a new program and Tarbell Pool record in the 100-yard backstroke in the leadoff portion of the 400-yard medley relay, with a time of 57.68 seconds. She also won the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.51) and the 100-yard backstroke (58.39). Drake also anchored the 200-yard freestyle relay team, turning in a leg of 24.2 seconds, as the Bobcats set another pool record in the event with a time of 1:40.03. She now owns all or part of six Bates records and three Tarbell Pool records.
Drake and her teammates will next compete at the NESCAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships Feb. 20-22 at Bowdoin College.
