SEWANEE, Tenn. — The Bates College women’s lacrosse team opened the 2009 season with a 20-9 non-conference victory at Sewanee on Thursday night at Puett Field.
Senior All-NESCAC attacker Caroline Thomas (Barrington, R.I.) led the Bobcats in scoring with 5 goals, while sophomore goalkeeper Mara Krueger (St. Louis, Mo.) made eight saves in net for the Bobcats (1-0).
Also scoring for Bates were junior Molly Dilworth (Yarmouth, Maine) with three goals, junior Morgan Maciewicz (Marblehead, Mass.) with 2 goals goal and 1 assist, sophomore Briana Gross (Andover, Mass.) with 2 goals and 1 assist, sophomore Natalie Perez (Vero Beach, Fla.) with 2 goals, junior Molly Radis (Peaks Island, Maine) with 2 goals, and first-year Jenna Dannis (Milford, N.H.) with a goal and an assist.
Carly Grimm (South Salem, N.Y.) led Sewanee’s (0-1) effort with five goals and an assist. Megan Welton (Germantown, Tenn.) logged three goals and Steffi Renninger (Darnestown, Md.) chipped in one of her own.
Bates next hosts Gordon College on March 3 at 5 p.m.
