HADLEY, Mass. — Eight members of the Bates College men’s track and field team won a total of eight NESCAC Track and Field All-Conference awards on Tuesday, based on their top-three event performances at Saturday’s NESCAC Championships at Connecticut College.

Junior Rich McNeil (Lawrence, Mass.) claimed All-NESCAC honors in the hammer throw, the shot put and the discus, for a career total of eight All-NESCAC honors thus far. McNeil took first place in the discus and hammer and was the runner-up in the shot put.

First-year Candido Bousquet (Colombo, Sri Lanka) won two All-NESCAC awards, after pulling off the unique feat of finishing third in both the long jump and the discus throw.

Senior Jerome Bennett (Chicago, Ill.) won his third career All-NESCAC award in the pole vault, after finishing second in the event for the second straight year.

Sophomore Chris Murtagh (Rowley, Mass.), the repeat NESCAC champion in the javelin throw, claimed his second all-conference honor.

And Bates’ distance medley relay team, which placed second at NESCACs, paved the way for all-conference honors for first-years Troy Calandra (San Francisco, Calif.) and Peter Corcoran (Stillwater, Minn.), sophomore Tom Esponnette (Auburn, Maine) and sophomore Ryan Quinn (Watertown, Mass.).
