44 Bates student-athletes named NESCAC Spring All-Academic

HADLEY, Mass. – Forty-four student-athletes from Bates College were named Spring 2009 All-Academic selections by the New England Small College Athletic Conference, announced by the NESCAC on Friday. The number is an increase of 11 from last spring’s total from Bates.

To be eligible, a student must be a junior or senior, a varsity letter winner and carrying a cumulative grade point average of 3.35 or better.

Bates’ list includes three athletes who earned All-NESCAC honors this season, in Isabel Alexander, Vantiel Elizabeth Duncan and Jennifer Marino, as well as three who have already or have a chance to earn All-America honors before the spring season is over, in Alexander, Duncan and Nicole Ritchie.

Bates’ list also includes 15 seniors who are repeat awardees from the 2008 spring season: Alexander, Leah Citrin, Sam Geller, Tara Higgins, Nate Kellogg, Marino, Matthew Martone, Caitlin Murphy, C.J. Murray, Ritchie, Ben Shwartz, Jessie Smith, Dillon Tung, Les Wade and Sarah Young.
