Men’s tennis, women’s rowing featured on CBS show
LEWISTON, Maine — Athletes from two Bates athletic teams were featured in the upcoming program “CBS Sports Presents Championships of the NCAA.” The annual show aired Saturday, July 4, at 2 p.m. Eastern time on CBS affiliates across the country.
The program’s highlights included footage of Bates’ Ben Stein and Amrit Rupasinghe winning the NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Doubles Championship, as well as Stein’s appearance in the finals of the Singles Championship, which he played on the same day.
The show also included mention of the Bates women’s rowing team’s bid for the Division III championship. The Bobcats’ first varsity boat placed second in a close Grand Final race to Williams, and Bates finished second in the team scoring, the best placing in an NCAA Championship ever by a Bates team.
