Bates women’s golfers top Bowdoin at Bowdoin Blast

Mimi Neal ’12 led all players at the Bowdoin Blast with a score of 90.

BRUNSWICK, Maine — The Bates College women’s golf team opened the 2009 season Saturday with a win over Bowdoin at the Bowdoin Blast, held at Brunswick Golf Club. Sophomore Mimi Neal (Danvers, Mass.) continued where she left off in her impressive first year as a Bobcat, earning medalist honors by carding a 90.

Senior captain Whitney Roller (Haverford, Pa.) shot a 92 to claim second place in her return to the team after spending her junior fall semester abroad, and sophomore newcomer Tessa Pals (Wilmette, Ill.) shot a 94 to place third. Sophomore newcomer Monica Berube (Plaistow, N.H.) finished ninth by shooting a 108.

Individual competitors from Bates, Bowdoin, UMaine-Farmington and Saint Anselm battled through damp afternoon conditions. In a dual-match between Bowdoin and Bates, the Bobcats also came away victorious by a cumulative score of 384-414.
