Rowing starts impressively at Quinsigamond Snake Regatta
WORCESTER, Mass. — The Bates College rowing teams got the 2009 fall season off to an impressive start on Saturday at the Quinsigamond Snake Regatta.
In their first race since finishing second at the NCAA Women’s Rowing Championships in the spring, the Bates women’s first varsity eight came in second out of 26 boats, behind only Mount Holyoke, 16:54.427 to 16:49.914, and well ahead of third-place Holy Cross (17:00.589). The women’s second eight came in 12th in the race at 18:47.517.
The Bates men’s varsity eight, also coming off of their finest season to date, placed third out of 17 boats with a time of 14:42.397, behind only WPI and Holy Cross. The Bates B boat was 10th in 15:56.600.
The Bobcats will continue their fall schedule at the Head of the Charles in Boston on Oct. 18.
