Bates senior centerJimmy O’Keefe(Lexington, Mass.) averaged 10.5 points, 12.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocked shots per game while shooting .533 (8-15) from the field as Bates fell to a pair of tough opponents, Ripon College and Concordia University Irvine, last week in the Surf City Classic in Irvine, Calif.On the season, O’Keefe entered this week averaging 9.8 rebounds and 6.0 rebounds with a .617 field goal percentage in only 17.7 minutes per game. O’Keefe would continue his high productivity on Tuesday night at the University of New England, scoring 13 points with 10 rebounds in 18 minutes.
|Lauren Yanofsky ’10
Bates forward Lauren Yanofsky(Belmont, Mass.) is off to a very productive start to her senior season in a Bobcat uniform. In last week’s game at the University of New England, Yanofsky continued her consistent high quality of play with 20 points (her third 20-point-plus game in a row), seven rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots before fouling out of the game in 23 minutes of action.Yanofsky entered the week leading the NESCAC in blocked shots per game (2.33) while also leading the Bobcats in scoring (15.3 ppg, fifth in the NESCAC) and rebounding (5.9 rpg).
She would continue torching in-state opponents early this week, earning MVP honors at the Mariner Classic at Maine Maritime Academy. In a pair of wins over UMaine-Fort Kent and Maine Maritime, Yanofsky posted 37 points, 15 rebounds, six steals, four assists and three blocked shots in 36 minutes of action.
