Men’s squash beats Bowdoin for third place in NESCAC

HARTFORD, Conn. — The Bates College men’s squash team defeated rival Bowdoin 5-4 on Sunday at the NESCAC Squash Championships, to finish third in the conference for the fourth time in the four-year history of the tournament. It was the Bobcats’ 16th straight win over the Polar Bears.
The No. 3 seed Bates men (19-7) received wins from senior Kush Mahan (Kalamazoo, Mich.) at the No. 1 spot, junior Will Katz (Bronxville, N.Y.) at No. 3, sophomore Bobby Burns (Greenwich, Conn.) at No. 4, first-year R.J. Keating (Short Hills, N.J.) at No. 8 and first-year Eric Bedell (Brooklyn, N.Y.) at No. 9.
The Bates men next play at the College Squash Association Team Nationals, taking place Feb. 18-21 at Yale University.
