Weekend Preview: Women’s lacrosse the lone home contest this weekend

LEWISTON, Maine — The Bates women’s lacrosse team hosts its first conference game on Saturday against Wesleyan, one of many highlights on the Bobcat athletic calendar for this weekend.
The No. 15 nationally ranked women’s lacrosse team has a chance to notch a crucial NESCAC win when it hosts the dangerous Cardinals, who lost to Bowdoin in double overtime two weeks ago. The game starts at 3 p.m. on Saturday, and you can catch it live online via Audio Webcast and Live Stats. Meanwhile, the men’s lacrosse team plays at Wesleyan in game starting at 2 p.m., in a battle between two teams with winning overall records that are both seeking their first conference win.

As if competing against strong Division I programs Maine and New Hampshire weren’t enough, the Bates men’s and women’s track and field teams begin the outdoor season on Saturday in what is expected to be near-freezing temperatures. The University of Maine hosts Bates and the University of New Hampshire for a tri-meet in Orono starting at noon.
Men’s tennis is taking a three-day trip to Ohio, with matches at Denison on Friday, at Kenyon on Saturday and at Case Western on Sunday.
