Men’s tennis coasts past Case Western Reserve, 7-2
GAMBIER, Ohio — The Bates College men’s tennis team recorded a 7-2 win over Case Western Reserve University on Sunday at Kenyon College, finishing up a three-day trip to Ohio with two wins and one loss.
Bates, ranked No. 29 in Division III, now stands at 6-2 on the season, while Case Western dropped to 6-8.
Bates won two out of three doubles matches to start the match, then took five out of six singles contests, all but one in straight sets. Winning in both singles and doubles were senior Amrit Rupasinghe (Colombo, Sri Lanka), senior Max Berger (Concord, N.H.), first-year Matthew Bettles (Taunton, England) and sophomore Jeffrey Beaton (Haverhill, Mass.).
The Bobcats have their second NESCAC match of the year on Saturday, when they play host to Middlebury in a match starting at 10 a.m.
