Women’s tennis shows depth in 7-2 win over Camels
LEWISTON, Maine — The Bates College women’s tennis team showed off its depth on Friday in a 7-2 victory over NESCAC rival Connecticut College in Merrill Gymnasium. The Bobcats won all three doubles matches, then swept the singles matches from third singles to sixth singles.
Winning at both singles and doubles for the Bobcats (7-3) were sophomore Erika Blauth (Camden, Maine) and first-years Ashley Brunk (Phoenix, Ariz.), Nicole Russell (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Katie Helfgott (Newton, Mass.).
Connecticut College (6-4) received its two points from Cassie Smith (Shelburne, Vt.) at first singles and Rebecca Heupel (Eden Prairie, Minn.) at second singles.
Bates plays a home NESCAc match tomorrow at home against Amherst, beginning at 10 a.m. The Camels will host Brandeis on Sunday at 1 p.m.
