LEWISTON, Maine — Bates sophomore midfielder Jenna Dannis (Milford, N.H.) was named to the IWLCA Division III All-America Third Team on Wednesday by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association, the official governing body of college women’s lacrosse. It is Dannis’s third award in two days and her fifth in this postseason.
Yesterday, Dannis was named a Division III Third Team All-American by the website womenslacrosse.com, and to the 2010 ECAC Division III New England Women’s Lacrosse All-Stars Second Team.
Dannis is now the 14th All-American in team history and the first since Molly Wagner also earned Third Team All-American honors in 2007 from both the IWLCA and womenslacrosse.com. Dannis was also an IWLCA Pilgrim Region First Team honoree last week, and a First Team All-NESCAC selection the week before.
Dannis is the rare midfielder who has proven capable of making a big difference at both ends of the field. She led the team in ground balls (35), draw controls (51) and caused turnovers (23), while ranking second on the team in scoring with 25 goals and four assists. She tied for first in the NESCAC in draw controls per game (3.40), and ranked ninth in the conference in ground balls per game (2.27) and seventh in caused turnovers per game (1.60). Dannis also scored 11 free-position goals on the year, ranking fifth in the league in FPS goals per game (0.73).
The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American banquet on June 12 at the Crowne Plaza Valley Forge in King of Prussia, Pa.
