Smith, Quenzel finish in top three at Colby tournament

WATERVILLE, Maine — Colby edged the Bates men’s golf team on Sunday at the Sid Farr Invitational, hosted by the Mules at Waterville Country Club.
Bates fielded two of the top three players on the day, with junior Lee Smith (Lexington, Mass.) shooting a 76 and sophomore Jared Quenzel (West Hartford, Conn.) a 78. The Bates duo trailed only the medalist, Colby’s Tripp Huber (74).
First-years Garrett Johnson (Lexington, Mass.) and Aidan Schmidtberger (Upper Black Eddy, Pa.) both shot an 83 to enter a four-way tie for fifth place among the 19 players at the tournament. Senior captain John Canney (North Clarendon, Vt.), at 84, finished out the top five Bobcats whose scores counted toward team results.
