BOSTON — The Bates College women’s cross country team finished 29th overall out of 47 teams, and 12th among Division III squads, on Saturday at the all-divisions Open New England Championships, held on Franklin Park’s 5-kilometer course.
Senior captain Kerri Leonhardt (Milford, N.J.) covered the trail in 19:35, 133rd best out of 322 runners in the field. Junior Jenny Monsulick (Readfield, Maine) came next for Bates in 20:04, followed by sophomore Alicia Fannon (Haverhill, Mass.) in 20:12, first-year Mira Carey-Hatch (Laconia, N.H.) in 20:24 and senior Jen Mitton (Reisterstown, Md.) in 20:27.
First-year Kallie Nixon (Medfield, Mass.) led Bates in the sub-varsity race, finishing in 20:33 to lead the Bobcats to 17th place in that race.
Bates competes at the Maine State Championship next Saturday at Bowdoin, with the starting gun at noon.
