BANGOR, Maine — Senior captain Patrick Jackson figured in all three goals, scoring one and assisting on the other two, as the Bates men’s soccer team downed Husson University 3-0 in a non-conference game on Wednesday at Husson’s Boucher Field.
The Bobcats improved to 4-7-1 with the win, while the Eagles fell to 3-12-0.

The first half was evenly matched, with numerous scoring chances for both teams. But with just under five minutes remaining in the half, Jackson (Durham, N.H.) hit an arching pass to sophomore Ethan Hirshberg (Concord, N.H.) who one-timed the ball into the upper right quadrant of the goal for his first score of the season.
Bates struck again about six minutes into the second half, when senior Tyler Dewdney (Meriden, N.H.) passed to a waiting Jackson at the top of the Husson goal box. Jackson took a few touches and scored on a shot to the keeper’s lower left at the 51:56 minute mark, for his team-best fourth goal of the season.
Sophomore back Ryan March (Concord, N.H.) closed out the Bobcats’ scoring with a near post goal, his first career score, assisted by Jackson.
Bates outshot Husson 24-12. Junior goalkeeper Greg Watts (West Chester, Pa.) tallied three saves in the first half, before junior Brian Goldberg (New York, N.Y.) took over for the second half and recorded one save. For Husson, Mason Smith recorded seven saves in goal.
