WAVERLY, Iowa — Bates College senior Devin Dilts (Roscoe, Ill.) competed Saturday at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship, finishing near the middle of the field of 279 competitors.
Dilts completed the 8-kilometer course in a time of 25:48.6, finishing 153rd among 279 runners.
Dilts is Bates’ first representative at the NCAA Cross Country Championship since Matt Dunlap ’08 in 2007. The Bobcats’ team captain concludes the entire fall athletic season at Bates, as well as his own excellent final collegiate cross country season. Dilts reaped several awards as part of a Bates team that finished among the national top 35 rankings and qualified for, but narrowly missed being selected for, the NCAA’s as a team.
A three-time NESCAC All-Academic selection, Dilts earned NESCAC First Team All-Conference honors in 2010, finishing sixth at the conference championships. He was ninth at the NCAA New England Regional Championships, earning his second All-New England laurels, and also made the All-State team at the State of Maine Championship in October.
