Men’s squash finishes CSA Team Nationals with 6-3 win over Navy

BOSTON — The Bates men’s squash team finished Hoehn Cup play at the College Squash Association Men’s Team Nationals on a winning note on Sunday, defeating Navy 6-3 to finish 18-11 and ranked 15th in the country.
Bates senior Will Katz (Bronxville, N.Y.) paced the Bobcats by prevailing in a tough 3-2 decision over Allan Lutz at the No. 1 position on the ladder. Each game was decided by two points, and Katz finally put Lutz away in the fifth game by a 15-13 score.
First-year Kristian Muldoon (Paget, Bermuda) scored an impressive 3-0 win at No. 3 over Billy Abrams. Playing his final match for Bates in his hometown, senior Patrick Williams (Boston, Mass.) defeated John Richey in straight games, 12-10, 11-8, 11-8, at No. 5. Also winning for Bates were junior Bobby Burns (Greenwich, Conn.) at No. 4, sophomore R.J. Keating (Short Hills, N.J.) at No. 6 and sophomore Walter Cabot (Dover, Mass.) at No. 9.
