HADLEY, Mass. — Bates College is represented twice on the 2011 NESCAC Women’s Squash All-Conference Team, announced Thursday by the New England Small College Athletic Conference, with sophomore Cheri-Ann Parris and first-year Samantha Matos receving All-NESCAC recognition.
Parris (St. Philip, Barbados) was named First Team All-NESCAC, while Matos (New York, N.Y.) was named to the Second Team.
It is the second time on the 10-member All-NESCAC First Team in as many years for Parris, who also was named NESCAC Rookie of the Year a year ago. This season, playing at the No. 1 position on the ladder for Bates, Parris went 16-7 in dual play and has now amassed a career record of 35-15 as Bates’ No. 1 player. She earned a No. 24 individual national player ranking at last weekend’s College Squash Association Individual Nationals, where she went 2-2 against four of the other top players in the country.

The Bates women’s duo was joined in All-NESCAC squash recognition by men’s team senior Will Katz (Bronxville, N.Y.), who earned First Team All-Conference honors on Thursday.
