Godek 15th in weight throw, Lindauer 16th in 400 at NCAAs
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Bates seniors Sara Ellen Godek and Dana Lindauer both competed well on Friday, in the first taste of the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships for both of the Bobcats women’s track and field team’s captains. Godek placed 15th in the weight throw, while Lindauer took 16th place in the 400-meter dash.
Competing in one of four preliminary heats in the 400, Lindauer (Needham, Mass.) finished the race in 58.81 seconds. Qualifying times for Saturday’s final ranged from 56.13 seconds to 57.65.
Godek had a top throw of 50 feet, 10.25 inches out of three efforts in the preliminary round of the women’s 20-pound weight throw competition. Finalists’ marks ranged from 55-04.75 to 59-06.25.
“They didn’t make the finals, but Dana and Sara Ellen both had a great year,” said head coach Jay Hartshorn. “Overall we were thrilled with their seasons.”
The Bates women’s team will open the outdoor track and field season on April 2 at the University of Maine, in a tri-meet including the University of New Hampshire, starting at noon.
