Godek, Lindauer win two events each against Black Bears

ORONO, Maine — Bates seniors Sara Ellen Godek and Dana Lindauer both won a pair of events to lead the Bates women’s track and field team to a strong outdoor season-opening performance in a non-scoring dual meet at Division I Maine on Sunday.
Godek (Gilford, N.H.) won the shot put handily at 40-02.75, as well as the hammer throw at 152-07. Godek was also second in the discus, at 100-11.
Lindauer (Needham, Mass.) took first place in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, in 12.98 and 26.37 seconds, respectively.
Other highlights for the Bobcats included:
Junior Taylor Piers (Falmouth, Maine) took first in the long jump (16-08.00).
Sophomore Bud Arens (Weymouth, Mass.) took second place in both the 1,500 (4:53.74) and the 800 (2:23.58).
Bates hosts a three-team meet at the Russell Street Track against Colby and MIT on Saturday, April 9, at 12 p.m.
