VANCOUVER, British Columbia — A former Bates Bobcat was among the first members of the Boston Bruins organization to hoist the Lord Stanley Cup Wednesday night after the Bruins defeated the Vancouver Canucks 4-0 in Game 7 for their first National Hockey League championship since 1972.
Jeremy Rogalski ’09, who has traveled with the Bruins all season long as the team’s video analyst, hugged Bruins captain Zdeno Chara before raising the huge trophy over his head during the team’s postgame celebration on the ice at Rogers Arena. Images of the event were captured by Tim Ohashi ’11 and posted on the Bates men’s ice hockey club team’s website.
Rogalski was a standout player for the Bates men’s club hockey team, helping the team win NECHA playoff championships in both 2008 and 2009. The native of West Springfield, Mass., was also a four-year varsity letter winner of the men’s golf team at Bates, and was the team’s captain in 2008.
