MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — No. 11 nationally ranked Wesleyan University defeated the Bates College men’s soccer team on Saturday by a 3-0 score, keeping the Cardinals undefeated this season and the Bobcats winless in NESCAC play.
Wesleyan’s (8-0-2, 7-0-1 NESCAC) Rory O’Neil scored twice, sandwiching a goal he assisted, while Walter Rodriguez added a goal and an assist. Wesleyan only outshot Bates by a 17-10 margin and only attempted one corner kick in the game, but the Bobcats failed to put a shot on goal, allowing Adam Purdy to register a shutout with no saves. Senior Greg Watts (West Chester, Pa.) had six saves for Bates.
