Bobcat of the Week of March 5, 2012: Jason Hichborn ’12
Bates senior attacker Jason Hichborn scored the game-tying goal with 48 seconds left in the fourth quarter, then tallied the game-winning goal just 22 seconds into overtime to lift the Bates men’s lacrosse team to a 7-6 non-conference victory over Keene State last Wednesday, in the season opener for both teams. Both of Hichborn’s game-saving goals were the result of hard-nosed and deftly executed drives at the Owls’ goal.
Hichborn (Yarmouth, Maine), who entered his senior season with 19 career goals, led Bates with a career-high tying three goals in the game, as the Bobcats avenged last season’s opener, a 14-3 loss to the Owls.
Hichborn also scored a goal and collected two ground balls in the Bobcats’ follow-up game on Saturday, a 14-10 setback against Skidmore.
