Men’s rowing has one first- and one second-place finish at MIT

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The Bates men’s rowing team took second out of four boats in the varsity eights race, and won the freshman/novice fours, in a four-team regatta hosted by MIT on Saturday on the Charles River.
Bates’ varsity eight outrowed both Boston College (6:22.9) and MIT (6:29.5) by covering the 2,000-meter course in 6:18.2, second to Trinity’s 6:15.9.
Bates’ 2V8 took third place behind Trinity and BC in 6:41.8, while the Bates novice four (7:34.8) well outpaced BC (7:51.3) and MIT (7:54.2), taking first out of three boats.
The Bates men return to competition next Saturday in Malden, Mass., against host Tufts along with Wesleyan and the University of New Hampshire.
