Bobcat of the Week of April 30, 2012: Sarah Fusco ’15
First-year standout Sarah Fusco (Cheshire, Conn.) ran her first collegiate 400-meter race just a week beforehand, but inexperience wasn’t in evidence at Saturday’s NESCAC Track & Field Championships at Bates. Fusco finished third among 22 runners in the event at Saturday’s meet, with a wind-hindered time of 58.74 seconds, before running the first leg of Bates’ first-place 4×800 relay.
The two races made Fusco Bates’ sole two-time All-NESCAC honoree from the meet. Joining her on that list were first-year Colby Gail (Topsham, Maine) in the high jump, and Fusco’s 4×800 relay teammates, sophomore Kallie Nixon (Medfield, Mass.) and juniors Lisa Reedich (Harvard, Mass.) and Bud Arens (Weymouth, Mass.).
Fusco set Bates’ indoor 600-meter record during the winter, and she contributed to setting team indoor records in both the 4×800 and distance medley relays. Fusco then won All-America honors as part of Bates’ distance medley relay team at indoor nationals.
