Men’s golf takes second place in CBB tournament

AUBURN, Maine — Senior captain Jared Quenzel (West Hartford, Conn.) shot an 81 to lead the Bates men’s golf team to second place on Saturday at the CBB (Colby-Bates-Bowdoin) Men’s Golf Tournament, hosted by the Bobcats at Martindale Country Club.
Dusty Biron shot a 79 to earn medalist honors, leading Bowdoin to first place. The Polar Bears’ five-man score of 405 topped runner-up and host Bates (421), while Colby finished at 437.
Quenzel tied Bowdoin’s Bobby Kaminski and Kevin Zmozynski for the second-best individual score of the day.
Junior Garrett Johnson (Lexington, Mass.) fired an 82 and sophomore Garret Bonney (Sudbury, Mass.) was right behind him at 83. Junior Zachary Abbott (Rangeley, Maine) carded an 87, and senior Corey Gingras (Eastford, Conn.) and junior Aidan Schmidtberger (Upper Black Eddy, Pa.) both carded 88′s.
Peter Gabranski led Colby with an 82.
Bates plays against Colby tomorrow in the Sid Farr Invitational at Waterville Country Club, starting at 1pm.
