Volleyball falls at home to Bowdoin
LEWISTON, Maine — Tory Edelman had nine kills with only one attack error, and Sophia Cornew added six kills, 23 assists and 15 digs, to lead Bowdoin College to a 3-0 (25-20, 25-12, 25-19) NESCAC volleyball victory over host Bates College on Saturday.
Bates didn’t fare as well as in Friday night’s closely-played match against Tufts, a 3-1 loss for the Bobcats, and Bowdoin was in firm control throughout. The Bobcats had more attack errors (20) than kills (14).
Senior Eliza Pyne (Atherton, Calif.) had a team-high four kills for Bates. First-year Laryssa Schepel (Flemington, N.J.) had a match-high 16 digs, and first-year Kelsey Berry (Hollis, N.H.) had three aces in addition to three kills.
Bates (7-10, 0-5 NESCAC) will look to bounce back in its NESCAC match at Colby on Tuesday at 7pm. Bowdoin (14-2, 5-1) went on to host Tufts at 6pm on Saturday.
