Athletic Department to host L/A Community Day II Saturday
LEWISTON, Maine — The Bates College Department of Athletics will be hosting Lewiston/Auburn Community Day II this Saturday, October 13, from 10am until 2pm.
As with last year’s inaugural event, L/A Community Day will center on the NCAA’s “Take A Kid To The Game” theme by inviting local school children and families to home athletic contests in football, men’s and women’s soccer and field hockey.
Additionally, Bates Athletics will host local youth games on its athletic facilities, have pumpkin decorating and vendor giveaways on the walkway adjoining Bates’ home football field, Garcelon Field, and will sponsor campus tours for community members.
Bates Athletics will again be combining Community Day with a philanthropic effort. Last year we used this occasion to raise funds for the Famine Relief Effort in the Horn of Africa. This year we will be donating the proceeds from our sale of concessions to the Lewiston Universally Accessible Playground Project, and representatives from the city will staff an information table at the event.
Please come out and join us for L/A Community Day II on Saturday, October 13.
